In response to travel restrictions and WHO advice aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19, UNDP Istanbul Innovation Days 2021 is being held entirely online.
We’ve always seen #IID21 as a global showcase of UNDP’s corporate R&D efforts but shifting it online has had the unanticipated effect of making IID accessible to people everywhere. The results have, quite frankly, taken us by surprise – in a really good way.
As of today, the website has been visited by people in over 90% of the world’s countries. Registrations have followed a similar pattern of distribution – and there’s still time go. By any measure, this is a truly diverse audience, full of amazing potential to help to identify and implement the futures of development, both as a paradigm and as a sector.
We’ve also strived to include speakers that mirror this diversity. Across the 30+ sessions of the agenda, we have slightly more women speakers than men, drawn from over 40 countries and from all regions of the world. We’ve also programmed Regional Conversations, Future Framing Sessions in partnership with EY, and City Based Alternative Reality Simulations that are each anchored in specific geographic regions or cities.
Wherever you are from, we welcome you to join #IID21 which, this year, is certain to be bigger, better, and more diverse than ever before. See you at the Main Event.
