On International Women’s Day (IWD) we celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity, and campaign for the elimination of violence. IWD takes place on Monday 08 March each year.
This year’s theme is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” with the hashtags #ActForEqual and #GenerationEquality

At #IID21, we’ll hear from women who personify the “women in leadership” theme. Women like Alaa Salah, who stood up for social justice in Sudan, and Alicia Garza who co-founded a global protest movement and is now Principal of Black Futures Lab.
Other women in leadership speaking at #IID21 include:
There are simply too many amazing women in this year’s agenda to name them all here – but they are all super-stars of their fields.
As we look forward to IWD, we also look beyond to Istanbul Innovation Days, where you’ll have opportunities to hear from and meet many women in leadership.
