Co-Head of Research Unit Digital Transformation
Since 2019 Dr.-Ing. Stephan Ramesohl acts as Co-Head of the Research Unit “Digital Transformation” within the Circular Economy Department at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate Environment Energy in Wuppertal, Germany. Focus areas of research are the challenges, opportunities and policy options to drive a sustainable digital transformation as well as leveraging digital solutions for implementing a decarbonised, resource efficient Circular Economy. From 2007 to 2019 he held executive positions within the Innovation function of the E.ON SE group, a leading European utility and energy company, recently as Vice President Innovation Strategy and Portfolio Management at E.ON SE group headquarter with focus on digital transformation, new decentralized energy world solutions and business model innovation.
Stephan Ramesohl received diploma degrees in business engineering [University (TH) Karlsruhe, Germany], in economics (University Aix-Marseille, France) and a PhD in engineering (Department for Electrical Engineering, Energy Technologies, University Paderborn, Germany). From 1994-2007, he worked at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate Environment Energy, lately as Vice-Director of the Research Group 1 “Future Energy and Transport Structures” and head of the focus project “New energy carriers and fuels”.
