Professor Emeritus Leif Edvinsson is a key pioneering contributor to the theory and practice of Intellectual Capital (IC) and knowledge management. He developed the concept of IC at the Swedish insurance company Skandia, prototyping the Skandia Future Center as a Lab for Organisational Design. At Lund University in 2000 and later at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he became the world’s first professor of IC. Edvinsson is an associate member of the Club of Rome and was awarded the “Brain of the Year Award” by Brain Trust, UK in 1998 as well as the Thought Leader Award by the European Commission in 2013. In 2015, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Japan Innovation Network (JIN). Together with the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations system, Edvinsson was presented with the Knowledge Management Award 2017 by Knowledge Management Austria at Palais des Nations in 2017.
